Initial Speed Tests

Being a customer of BT’s Full Fibre 900 service, our first test for MSI’s AXE6600 router was to see if it could saturate our near 1Gb download speeds. This was an easy test for MSI’s router to pass, with both our upload and download speeds being as expected.

MSI Web UI

MSI’s RadiX Gaming Routers can be controlled through a web interface, as shown below, using MSI’s “MSI Center” app, or though the MSI Router app on the Google Play Store or Apple Store.

This app can be used to change various WiFi settings, to select the router’s mode, and to see how much your router’s CPU, NPU are being utilised. You can also use the interface to see how many devices are connected to your network, and how much data is being downloaded or uploaded.

Doing a great job where BT’s stock router fails

One problem that I have always had with our standard BT router is that it never allowed my mobile phone to access speeds of much over 30Mbps, even when I stood right beside the router. This was despite the fact that I had other devices that could connect to the router wirelessly at much higher speeds With the MSI AXE6600, I simply connected to the router’s 5GHz band and was able to achieve 210 Mbps download speeds and pretty much max out my ISP’s upload speeds. Now that’s an upgrade!
