Super Flower Leadex Platinum 1200W Review

Voltage Ripple

Voltage ripple is something that is being very difficult to differentiate between the most recent power supplies. Two or three years ago anything under 40mV was deemed to be awesome, thanks to the digital controller in the AX1500i the score to beat is now well under 10mV if you have the wallet that can pay for it. We do need to be very clear though, the Leadex is the best performing analogue power supply we have ever tested and comes within spitting distance of the AXi at less than half the cost. Amazeballs.

Nice review Tom. I was excited when I saw this; white, LEDs, platinum and that price! Shame it didn't quite live up to the expectations it put upon itself but that price is still awesome.

This is the first PSU I've really liked the aesthetics look of since this old PSU which was launched back in 06.

Effeciancy aside, Tom do you think that the fan noise is down to the ugle press cut fan grill? Do you think if you where to cut out that grill and install a higher grill like this one that would fix the noise?

It seems like making doing this mod would be very simple and could have a positive impact on the noise level. If it isn't the grill causing that turbulent noise it may just be a bad low quality fan design that they have used.Quote

Hmm well that sucks I was hoping to replace my now ageing OCZ PSU with this nice white one. But I may hold off for a 2nd revision of this.

*Thanks for that image TPC. It really is a cheapo fan. Looks like it's even pure dc voltage controlled not even a 3pin thermal or pwm.

I would have been happy to pay even $50 more if it had a better fan design. I'm still running this old thing. It's power Isn't bad but the red lighting clashes badly with my case theme & It's horrid rubber flat cables are the worse design I've ever seen. Only reason I've got it is it was a prize I won at a LAN event.Quote
