Conclusion - Stutter appears to be gone, and DLSS is an excellent addition to Deathloop!

Deathloop's Patch 1 makes some welcome changes to the game, with the game's stuttering issues appearing to be gone and a higher framerate limit for high refresh rate junkies to target.

DLSS is a major addition to this new patch, allowing Nvidia RTX users to target higher performance levels and higher levels of image quality in many instances. It's arguable that Deathloop has one of Nvidia's best DLSS implementations to date, so much so that the feature is a must use for RTX GPU users.

Like Death Stranding, Deathloop is a game that looks better with DLSS enabled. Deathloop's stock TAA solution is blurrier than DLSS's higher quality modes. DLSS does what once seemed impossible in Deathloop by delivering more gamers performance and higher levels of image quality. DLSS is like magic in Deathloop. if you own an RTX series GPU, there is no reason not to turn on DLSS.

As we stated in our previous PC analysis of Deathloop, the game's FSR implementation is blurry. When gamers use lower target resolutions (or lower baseline resolutions/quality modes at 4K) this problem gets worse. There is no comparison between FSR and DLSS in Deathloop; DLSS wins. While FSR does support all graphics cards, DLSS delivers superior levels of image quality, especially when lower resolutions are targetted.

If you look at page three of this analysis, you will see parts of 4K screenshots of Deathloop with FSR set to Balanced and DLSS set to Performance. Both deliver nigh-identical framerates, but DLSS deliver a level of image quality that puts FSR to shame.

With Deathloop being a fairly demanding PC game, DLSS is seen as a much-needed feature for users of Geforce RTX users. Now that DLSS has been added to the game, it is easy to see why Nvidia has invested so much in delivering AI acceleration to gamers. The results speak for themselves, with higher framerates and high levels of image quality. What's not to love?

I know FSR is hardware agnostic and all but it has a fair way to go, Needs some major refinement in the IQ department.Quote

It definitely looks better in some games than others. Deathloop is a particularly poor showing TBH, but it does highlight how far it needs to evolve.Quote
