Far Cry 6 PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

4K - Still CPU/memory limited?

Far Cry 6 is well optimised on the GPU side, so much so that 4K Ultra settings isn't a challenge to today's high-end graphics cards. Beyond that, lower-end GPU models can utilise AMD's FSR feature to enable higher performance levels at 4K.

Thankfully, Far Cry 6 isn't very CPU-limited at 4K. That said, enabling FidelityFX Super Resolution will quickly show high-end GPU users that Far Cry 6's performance is CPU/memory constrained when high framerates are targeted. 4K 120 FPS is a challenge with Far Cry 6, even for those with sufficiently high-end GPUs.

When Ray Tracing is enabled, 60+ FPS framerates can be a challenge in Far Cry 6, which is what makes add-ons like AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution incredibly valuable to PC gamers.

At 4K Ultra with RT enabled, GPUs with 8GB or less memory did suffer from performance issues. This is especially true for AMD's RX 6600 XT. Nvidia's 6GB RTX 2060 crashed frequently, making the test pointless. While Far Cry 6's VRAM indicator said that 6GB of VRAM is enough, our results clearly tell a different story.

Tried the game. Boring repeat of the same political drizzle the last few pushed out... The RT in the benchmark is atrocious. Just look at the people and the cars moving on the wet road towards the end. The cars tyres are ghostly blue underneath.

Dont think I lasted 20mins before uninstalling it.Quote

Thoroughly enjoying this game, the whole story and the craziness of everything in it. And it looks so good at times, reminds me of the first Farcry game which at the time was gorgeous.Quote
