Optimisation Tip - Avoid Extreme Settings if you don't have Extreme hardware
If there is anything that you should take away from this article, it is what you probably shouldn't play Forza Horizon 5 using the game's Extreme preset. It is incredibly taxing, and much smoother framerates can be achieved at high settings while maintaining great visuals. For fans of 120Hz+ displays, high settings will help most of you scratch that high framerate itch.
At 4K on an RX 5700 XT, moving from extreme settings to high settings results in a 100% increase in performance, enabling 60 FPS gameplay.
Note how Nvidia's RTX 3070 Ti and AMD's RX 6800 achieve much smaller performance gains, suggesting that aspects of AMD's RDNA 2/Nvidia's Ampere GPU architecture make Forza Horizon 5's extreme preset a lot more performant.
