Conclusion - Is Hot Pursuit Remastered Worth it?

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is a mixed bag on PC. The game's original PC release can already run at 4K 60 FPS, and the brightness/colour changes of this remaster can arguably make this new version look worse than the game's original PC release.

With multi-platform/cross-play multiplayer, enhanced draw distances and other graphical improvements, this remaster will come as welcome news for those who wish to replay Hot Pursuit's online modes. If you don't already own Hot Pursuit on PC, this new release is a great way to replay the classic. To owners of the original, this remaster is going to be a harder sell.

While the overly dark visual of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit in nighttime scenes are improved by EA's remaster, the impact of these changes within other areas of the game removes the vibrant colours and a lot of the detail that the original game possessed. We have screenshots of like-for-like scenes from the original and remaster, and in many cases, the original looks better, at least in our opinion.

The three major advantages of this remaster on PC is its increased draw distances, the addition of higher detail models and the addition of modernised anti-aliasing options. These add-ons remove the pop-in and aliasing which can be seen in the game's original PC release and adds a lot of new detail to the game. That said, the original can often look better,

If you don't already own Hot Pursuit on PC, this remaster will be a great way for PC gamers to experience this racing classic. Smooth 60 FPS framerates are easy to achieve, and the game's improvements do help to make the game feel less dated on modern systems. While we do not like all of the visual changes within this remaster, that doesn't stop Hot Pursuit from delivering a great racing experience. If that's what you are looking for, this remaster is definitely worth trying out.

Performance-wise, this game runs like a dream, as is expected from a remastered PC game from 2010. Smooth 60 FPS framerates should be easy to achieve on any modern gaming PC, assuming that you are using your graphics card at an appropriate resolution.

When I first heard of HP (2010) I tought it was a remaster of NFS III HP, to think that there is NFS HP2 which is actually a sequel for NFS III.Quote

There are actually 3 Hot pursuits

NFSIII 1998
NFSHP2 2002
NFS Hotpursuit 2010

I think Highstakes was one of my favourites in the entire line. Underground got boring when it was possible to make almost unbeatable setups in specific cars. All dragsters using the same Nissan Fair Lady with the one true car setup etc.Quote

Given what I've just watched I'd say if you have the original I'd stick with that, this is just pure lazy cash grab by EA.

What, that's egregious. I guess consoles are getting a boost in fidelity but on PC, what a turd.

Edit: Locked to 60fps too, negating any positive performance impact if they changed the graphics API (which I haven't looked up).Quote
