Total War Warhammer III's patch 1.2 has landed
If you played Total War Warhammer III at launch, you will know that the game had a lot of early issues. Thankfully, recent patches have addressed many of the game's most obvious bugs, and with patch 1.2, Creative Assembly has stated adding new content to the game in the form of Regiments of Renown.
For those who play the game at higher difficulties, today's patch appears to address Total War Warhammer III's overwhelming "anti-player bias", which could see armies march across the map to challenge your faction, regardless of whether or not that faction has more pressing, local threads. This issue could see players effectively fighting against all Chaos factions alone, as well as other opposing factions.
For us, one of the highlights of today's patch is the promise of improved game performance, which has been a bugbear for us since Total War Warhammer III launched. This is especially true for the game's campaign mode, which can suffer from low framerates and stuttering during gameplay. Today, we will be retesting Total War Warhammer III to see if the game runs better on our test PC.
With patch 1.2, Total War Warhammer III is said to be more stable, and the performance impact of some settings have been improved. Specifically, the performance impact of shadow splits, and tree draw distance culling has been lowered, resulting in more stable game performance.

Patch 1.2's new content
Total War Warhammer III's latest patch adds new content in the game in the form of the game's first "Regiments of Renown" pack, which adds new units to each of the game's main factions. These units are mostly upgraded versions of existing units, which have a limited recruitment capacity and specific unlock requirements.

- Mounts now automatically unlock for all mounted characters—no skill points necessary!

- Numerous improvements to Unit Responsiveness during Battles
- Technology updates (and more) for every playable race
- A long list of fixes for Campaigns and Battles based on player feedback

Today, we will be comparing some performance data that we logged when playing Total War Warhammer III on launch day, and data that we collected when playing Total War Warhammer III after the release of patch 1.2. To do this, we will be using data collected using our Ryzen-based games test system and an Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 Ti.
