ASUS USB 3.1 Performance Review

AIDA64 and PC Mark 8

ASUS Z97-A USB 3.1

Final Tests

We have two sides of the coin with our final couple of benchmarks. AIDA64 provides the clearest indication of the benefits you can expect to experience as far as top speed goes. There is an undoubted improvement to be had from the USB 3.1 ports. PC Mark 8, which is more about shifting small amounts of data around, returns to the imperceptible improvement we saw in the 4K block testing earlier on.

IMO i think its a smart move to put USB 3.1 on a lower end board, to see how it sells and if it sells good then they might put it onto the ROG boards.

Rather amazing. I loved how even with turbo off, nearly the whole time it was still faster than any sata 3 alternative. Then turning it on was not even close. Though i'm sure with the maturity of the actual drives and sticks themselves progresses we should see more consistent and overall speed increases.Quote
