Crucial MX300 SSD 1050GB Review

ATTO

When looking at this drive's ATTO performance this drive delivers us middle of the road read performance, with the older MX300 coming with faster write speeds at higher transfer sizes, though it is worth noting that the MX300 foes win out in 16K reads.

The write performance of this drive is where the MX300 delivers a lot more impressive results, sitting very close the Corsair Neutron XTi 960GB, which isn't bad considering the Corsair drive is significantly more expensive.

What is important is not necessarily how fast this drive is in terms of read and write speeds, but how close this SSD can get to the higher end SATA drives while coming with a significantly lower price point.

At the time of writing the 1050GB MX300 costs £224.39 from Crucial, whereas the 1TB Samsung 850 Evo costs around £290 and the 960GB Corsair Neutron drive costs almost £380.

You would be surprised how quickly we could fill it. All out GPU benchmark games alone would take up most of it.

It is nice that this SSD does offer quite a large capacity, as 1050GB is a lot more than the 960GB drives we commonly see these days.Quote
