Samsung T7 Touch 1TB Review

Introduction

We often discuss how incredible we find it that we all carry high definition video recorders in our pockets and don’t even think about it that much. Alongside huge video sizes and high megapixel cameras, our devices are also capable of playing back that media type as well as holding our enormous music collections.

The ability to not only have easy access to to our files but also easy ability to move them between our many devices is the holy grail for anyone who regularly switches from mobile to laptops or desktop systems. Yes there is always a cloud based system but why spend the time uploading to the cloud, then downloading it again, and ending up with two copies taking up space on your devices? That is before we get to the problems of the security of cloud storage as many people have discovered to the cost of their personal life in the past few years. Surely a much more elegant solution is to have a small portable drive that is capable of connecting to everything. Albeit that has its own security issues as it’s easy to just “borrow” it, plug it in and hoover up everything you want. In a perfect world we’d have storage that was not only fast, but easily portable and secure.

Enter the Samsung T7 Touch.

Technical Specifications

The T7 Touch is available in three capacities – 500MB, 1TB, 2TB – and utilises the USB 3.2 Gen2 connection. There is a Type-A cable in the box too if you haven’t got a computer with a Type-C connector, although you’ll probably be sacrificing a little performance. As we’ll see in a moment it not only has password protection but also has a fingerprint reader – the touch part of the name. Let’s look at what’s in the box.
