SanDisk Extreme Cruzer Contour 8GB Flash Drive

Packaging and Contents

SanDisk’ packaging has always been a fairly standard affair, but this time around it’s a little more stylish. Featuring a predominantly black and red theme, the SanDisk Extreme Cruzer Contour packaging is further accentuated with gold text. On the front of the box there is a small image of the flash drive itself, and immediately below that are the specified read and write speeds. On the rear of the box, San Disk has included the features and specifications of the unit.

Opening up the box we are greeted by a small felt lined plastic insert that houses the bundle. Although the flash drive is snugly fitted into the plastic insert, there is a distinct lack of protection for the unit from impact to the front of the box. A little more thought could have been used here.

Removing all the items from the tray, we can see what is a typical bundle for a flash drive, although the addition of a nice faux leather carry pouch is a nice touch. I have included a list of the bundled items for you below:

* SanDisk Extreme Cruzer Contour 8GB flash drive
* Faux lether carry pouch
* User guide
* Warranty card
* Multilingual user guide

A Closer Look

The SanDisk Extreme Cruzer Contour 8GB flash drive features a nicely tapered body that lends itself well to fitting comfortably in your hand. On the top of the flash drive there is the familiar Cruzer moniker, and  a series of raised ridges upon which to rest your thumb.  On the underside of the flash drive there is an attractive polished steel finish that has SanDisk Cruzer Contour 8GB etched into it.

The SanDisk Extreme Cruzer Contour 8GB flash drive features a neat sliding function to expose the USB connector, and it is a little removed from the traditional Cruzer Micro and Cruzer Titanium methods. Instead of me attempting to explain how it works, SanDisk has done it for me in picture format. In order to protect the USB connector when it’s in its retracted position, the flash drive has a neat little door that automatically folds down and will keep dust at bay nicely.

As well as some sexy looks, the SanDisk Extreme Cruzer Contour also features U3 and ReadyBoost capability. For those of you still not familiar with U3, it’s essentially a platform for allowing your favourite supported app’s a truly mobile home courtesy of your flash drive –  and you can read more about it here. Now that we’ve seen what’s bundled in with the flash drive, and had a little bit of a closer inspection of the drive itself, let’s head over the page to check out the features of the SanDisk Extreme Cruzer Contour.
