There is no point in including any of the solid state solutions in our graphs because mechanical drives don't remotely compare in the speed stakes. Where they win out is reliability and longevity, the cornerstones of mission critical storage solutions.

Looking forward to being able to bring my "New to me" server and "Disk Shelves" online.

Nice little Dell R720 and a 24 bay Netapp Disk Shelf and 15 bay EMC Disk Shelf, which will over time be filled with 39x 20TB Exos drives as long as they will actually work, I need to buy 1 of the 20TB drives first since the shelves may only support up to 8Tb or 10Tb drives.

My current server only has 1.5TB left out of the 30TB available and that is going to be gone soon!

First things first though I need to finish the room off where it's going, then get the rack purchased and built, CAT-6 cable ran round the house and terminated etc etc.

Will be fun when finished though.Quote
