With 8 cores and 16 threads available the Ryzen 7 1700 at the heart of the GL702Z has more than enough performance to run our CPU intensive benchmarks as we'll see on the following pages. The RX580 might not be quite as outstanding as a Fury X or similar, but there should still be plenty of capability to game smoothly at 1080P.

As an affordable gaming laptop there always has to be compromises and perhaps the most sensible one is the move from the M.2 drives we've seen on extremely high end options to the SSD we have here. Although 3GB/s is a gorgeous number to see, the reality is that a regular SSD still has plenty of speed available to keep your OS running smoothly.
