Battlefield 4 Budget Build Performance
Tomb Raider & Sleeping Dogs

Tomb Raider
Yet another game which is affiliated with AMD through their bundle deals. We ran two instances of the game's built in benchmark; one using the Normal Preset, and the other using the High Preset with both at 1080p.
This is perhaps the biggest 'win' we've seen for the budget system in thse tests. Pitching itself far above the GT640 in the ID45, we get frame rates of 95 even on the high preset.
Sleeping Dogs
The Sleeping Dogs benchmark is built into the game itself. We ran it at 1920x1080 with medium settings.
Interestingly with Sleeping Dogs, we don't see quite as good performance as we saw on Tomb Raider, which is odd since they're both built on the same engine. Our budget system still performs very well, but just misses out on the 60 FPS average.

Keep telling him to join these forums and look at some of the smaller builds.
Edit: Okay there is something not right if my rig is only doing 20fps with Arkham Origins!Quote
My steam box/LAN box was going to be an itx system for around the same price and its amazing how much more expensive the ITX AMD motherboards are. I had to really scale down the graphics (to a 650ti) and get a tiny SSD in order to stay in budget. All the good motherboards cost more than the cpu :l. Thats the issue with cheap OCable cpus I guess :s. In the end I also had to settle with this as a build. It was an easy sell though
![]() Interesting how surprisingly good the pentiums are at gaming. I really was expecting it to struggle alot more than it did. I wouldn't want a pentium for games like Star Citizen though. |
Going to be building a rig something like what you have there.. Just want to ask though how well does it overclock? I know lottery and all that, just is there much to be gained in performance?
Also I just love philips site. Its awesome for getting, thecheapest kit out thereQuote

Excellent little chip though, got more grunt then a 4300 (in my experience) and has better single core performance then other AMD chips, especially Bulldozer.Quote
I just left mine at stock as it has a chance to get quite warm quite easily. The CPU cooler isn't designed for OCing so that was a limiting factor. TBH the cooler was more than adequate, its just a better bet to get something like a hyper 212/seidon120v if you want to get some high OCs in.
