Fan Testing - Those fan statistics have to come from somewhere
One of the other product types that Corsair tests in-house is fans, allowing the company to quickly gain the knowledge and expertise to create their ultra-quiet ML (Magnetic Levitation) series fans in recent years.
When looking at the specifications of fans, users will see data like static pressure, airflow rate, sound levels, usable RPMs and power draw. These numbers are not given to corsair by the OEMs that create their fans; these numbers are tested internally using the Corsair's automated fan testing system.
The machine that Corsair uses is professionally calibrated every year by an external company, ensuring that Corsair's results are accurate and honest.
To define a fan's specifications, a 45-minute test needs to be conducted, allowing fans to be run at various loads to showcase the fan's pressure and airflow characteristics at varying speeds. These results are then verified across several fans to ensure that the specifications apply to every fan of that type.
For those of us that are more scientifically minded, here is a chart that offers a more in-depth explanation of how this machine works, though be warned that the data here will look like a pile of nonsense if you are not a fan of math.
