PC Specialist Apollo T1 System Review

Introduction

PC Specialist have provided us with some of the most desirable systems currently available, with the Velocity R1 still holding a place in our heart for the day we finally win the lottery.

Fortunately for those of us with more realistic budgets, they have such a wide range of systems tailored to suit every pocket, and a wide-ranging customisation service that allows you to get the exact system you desire to fit your pocket, without having to put up with something you don’t want as you might do with many other system builders.

Whilst high-end setups are always fun to dream about, and mid-range ones might just stretch the budget, the recent release of the GTX 1660 Ti and its excellent 1080P performance got us thinking about what the least you could spend on a system would be, whilst still having it capable of playing all the latest titles at pretty much highest settings but retaining the all important 60 FPS. A system, if you will, that is the equivalent of a jalapeno in your salad. Utterly dominated by the GPU – the jalapeno in this metaphor – but still more than capable of doing those day to day tasks that we fiddle about with between gaming sessions.

Enter the Apollo T1. Based around a quad-core AMD Ryzen 3 2300X, with plenty of RAM, a decent operating system drive, and the hugely popular GTX 1660Ti supplying the graphics. All for a hairs breadth under £700. Can it deliver the goods?
