We’ve often mentioned how current systems come with the expanding foam insert, and whilst the Kratos is no exception it is worth pointing it out again because it’s so good. It guarantees that you can safely order a pre-built within fearing that Britains bumpy roads will shake the graphics card mounts loose or rattle anything at all. Fantastic.
The Kratos doesn’t come with all the extraneous parts that you often see included with pre-built systems these days, but you still get all the driver discs and manuals, should you require a reinstall or just want some reading matter.
The Carbide case is a bit of an optical illusion. Looking at the front it would seem like something designed by Tim Burton, yet when you see it from the rear it’s just your regular rectangular cuboid. Regardless of what you may feel about the looks there certainly isn’t an argument about whether it will grab the attention of passers by.
The build of the Kratos is all about the performance of the processor and graphics card, and at this price we’d be really picking holes to complain about the cable routing. If you want the rear cables to be more carefully routed then you’ll definitely need to spend more than the CX500 price. We’re not going to moan. This is a system you use, not an art exhibit.
Keeping the CPU cool is a Corsair H45. With only four cores to keep cool it’s got enough without incurring the expense of a dual width AIO.
The lower end of the Kratos is kept simple with a Samsung 850 providing the speedy OS part of the system, and a HDD sorting out the big space at a low price bit. With the low power draw of the latest i5-6600K and GTX 1070 combination a Corsair CX 500 is more than enough to keep the system running smoothly.
This is where the Kratos really earns its keep though. It’s all about the gaming performance and to that end it’s equipped with the excellent ASUS GTX 1070 Strix. A card which looks as good with its full RGB cooler as it goes. And, indeed, how gentle it is on your hearing. Even at full chat you wont hear it, so you can concentrate on honing your gaming prowess.
