Nvidia’s RTX Video Super Resolution has arrived in VLC Media Player
VLC Media Player has received a Super Resolution boost for users of Nvidia RTX graphics cards
Nvidia’s RTX Video Super Resolution technology has found a new home within VLC media player, allowing users of Nvidia RTX graphics cards to enhanced the quality of locally stored or streamed video content when using the app.
RTX Video Super Resolution is a technology that uses the AI power of GeForce RTX GPUs to upscale and improve the quality of video content. Previously, the technology was added to the Chromium-based Chrome and Edge browsers, improving the quality of streamed video on YouTube, Netflix, and other sources of streamed video on those browsers.
With the release of VLC Media Player version 3.0.1.9 RTX, a special branch of VLC, RTX Video Super Resolution has been added to the popular media player. This version of VLC enabled RTX Video Super Resolution by default when used on supported systems. That said, VSR needs to be enabled within Nvidia’s GPU control panel for the feature to work.
