Metro 2033/Last Light Redux next-gen adds surprise DLSS 5 (NR) update
DLSS Neural Rendering was not included in 4A Games’ patch notes
4A Games has released their new “Next-gen” updates for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux, and they contain a surprise addition. 4A Games’ release notes don’t mention it, but both games now support DLSS 5 NR (Neural Rendering). This means that the game can utilise Neural Rendering with compatible hardware to deliver improved visuals.
For the most part, Metro’s new Redux next-gen updates focus on improving visuals without fundamentally altering the look and feel of each game. Additionally, these updates focus on improving compatibility with modern PC hardware, fixing bugs, and delivering improved animation and audio quality.
We will look deeper into Metro Redux’s DLSS 5 support soon and create some before/after imagery. For now, we have booted the games to confirm that DLSS NR is indeed present. DLSS NR requires Nvidia DLSS to be enabled. This means that it is incompatible with other upscaling solutions, like AMD FSR and A4’s custom TSR upscalers.
(DLSS 5 Confirmed!)
Based on our initial look at the games, DLSS 5’s impact is subtle. Visuals are improved overall, but it doesn’t completely change the look of these classic games. Honestly, this is DLSS 5 as it should be. It isn’t a slop filter. Expect to see more later today.
