PS4 Emulator ShadPS4 can now play Red Dead Redemption on PC
PlayStation 4 emulation shows major progress as ShadPS4 can now play Red Dead Redemption Remastered on PC
PlayStation 4 emulation is improving at a rapid pace. Earlier this month, ShadPS4 was able to boot Red Dead Redemption Remastered on PC. Now, the emulator can reach in-game status and can be played. While the game is by no means playable on PC yet, this is an astounding rate of progress for PlayStation 4 emulation.
In the video below from BrutalSam, it is claimed that the game can run at up to 25 FPS on high-end PCs. While this may not sound impressive, it must be noted that compatibility is more important than speed at this stage of ShadPS4’s life cycle. The fact that players can enter gameplay at all is a huge achievement. Remember, this game only started booting on ShadPS4 three weeks ago.
Currently, Red Dead Redemption far from playable on this emulator. The game has major graphical issues, and runs at very low framerates. Further ShadPS4 updates should make the game more playable on PC. However, it will likely take years before the ShadPS4 emulator is able to play a large number of PS4 titles on PC.
References to an official PC version of Red Dead Redemption have recently appeared on Rockstar’s game launcher. This suggests that Red Dead Redemption will be coming to PC at some point in the future. This means that the game may soon be playable on PC without emulation. This will be a big deal for fans of the franchise. Will Red Dead Redemption Remastered come to PC before the PS4 becomes playable through ShadPS4?
