Nvidia warns of potential “stock-outs” ahead of their RTX 5080/ RTX 5090 launch

Nvidia expects high demand for their RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 GPUs on launch day – “Stock-outs” expected

In a post on the Nvidia Forums, Tim@Nvidia has confirmed that the company expects “stock-outs” for their RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards at launch. Demand for Nvidia’s new GPUs is expected to outstrip supply, leaving some customers unable to order new Nvidia RTX 50 series GPUs.

In their post, Tim@Nvidia stated that Nvidia and its partners are shipping more stock to retailers daily. Over time, this will increase GPU supply and allow more gamers to get their hands on Nvidia’s newest GeForce products.

Last week, Overclockers UK confirmed that they had “single-digit” stock for Nvidia’s RTX 5090 graphics card. While more GPU stock has arrived at the company’s warehouse before launch, Nvidia’s RTX 5090 will probably sell out quickly on launch day. As such, many day-1 GPU sales will be for GPU pre-orders, not in-stock products.

Nvidia’s RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 GPUs will be available to purchase on January 30th. You can read our review of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition graphics card here. Reviews for Nvidia’s RTX 5080 GPUs should be available soon.
