Borderlands 4’s next update promises performance improvements
Borderlands 4’s next update should deliver stability and performance improvements
Sadly, the new October 9th update for Borderlands 4 didn’t deliver any improvements to the game’s performance or stability on PC and consoles. Instead, the update focuses on balance changes, making small adjustments to gear to enhance game balance.
Thankfully, next week’s update will include a “host of improvements”, which promise to enhance stability and performance. Furthermore, this update promises to deliver “highly requested quality-of-life changes”.
We reviewed the PC version of Borderlands 4 at launch, and to say the least, the game is very demanding. Furthermore, the game has frequent shader compilation stutters, which means that the game never runs smoothly on the platform.
Importantly, next week’s update will include a host of improvements to stability, performance, and some highly requested quality-of-life changes!
Hopefully, next week’s update will make Borderlands 4 run smoother on PC. Generalised performance improvements for Borderlands 4 would be welcome, as would changes that reduce or eliminate shader compilation stutter. If both can be delivered, all PC gamers would have a better experience playing Gearbox’s new looter shooter.
Last month, Gearbox delayed the Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 and didn’t unveil a new release date. It is probable that the studio is having trouble optimising the game for Switch 2. If that is the case, the changes with next week’s patch could help the game on Switch as well as on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
