Nvidia DLSS 6x and Dynamic Frame Generation have arrived

The new Nvidia App beta enables DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Frame Generation and 6x Frame Generation

With the newest Nvidia App beta, Nvidia has officially released DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Frame Generation and 6x Frame Generation. These options are available as DLSS Overrides on the Nvidia App and should become available to all RTX 50 series GPU users soon.

With this Nvidia App beta, Nvidia has released all of its DLSS 4.5 upgrades. Earlier this year, Nvidia launched its DLSS 4.5 upscaling solution, which used Nvidia’s 2nd-generation transformer model to deliver higher levels of image quality. Now, Nvidia has increased its maximum Frame Generation multiplier from 4x to 6x and have added a new Dynamic Frame Generation option.

With DLSS 4.5, Nvidia has increased its maximum Frame Generation multiplier from 4x to 6x. This will enable Nvidia to push for higher frame rates as display manufacturers release higher refresh rate gaming displays. 4K 240Hz monitors have already arrived, and so have 540Hz 1440p monitors. DLSS Frame Generation is now ready for something higher.

DLSS Dynamic Frame Generation proves that higher isn’t always better

Maximising framerates isn’t always a good thing, especially when it comes to Frame Generation. Ideally, frame generation is a technology that increases visual smoothness and clarity. With that being the case, there is no reason to push frame rates beyond your monitor’s maximum refresh rate.

With DLSS Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation, Nvidia can dynamically adjust your frame generation multiplier to get closer to your screen’s maximum refresh rate (or whatever framerate target you have chosen).

If your framerate is below its target, the multiplier is increased to get closer to your screen’s maximum refresh rate. If real framerates increase, your frame generation multiplier can decrease to improve image quality. This technology can deliver better frame pacing and more consistent framerates.

While 6x frame generation can deliver higher framerates, there’s no point in generating frames that you will never see. With Dynamic Frame Generation, Nvidia can deliver the highest frame rates your screen supports and improve frame pacing/ frame consistency.

How to access DLSS 6x and Dynamic Frame Generation

Nvidia RTX 50 series GPU users can now access Nvidia’s DLSS Multi Frame Generation 6x mode and Dynamic Frame Generation by opting into Nvidia’s beta preview. This is available in the Nvidia App’s settings menu.
