Elegoo unlocks the Centauri Carbon 1’s Multicolor potential with Canvas add-on
Elegoo launches multicolour Canvas add-on for its Centauri Carbon 3D printer
Better late than never. Over a year after the Centauri Carbon’s launch, Elegoo has officially released their Canvas multicolour add-on for their Centauri Carbon 3D printer (see our review here). This comes after the launch of Elegoo’s Centauri Carbon 2, a new 3D printer model that launched with multi-colour support.
For £38, owners of the original Elegoo Centauri Carbon can upgrade their printer with 4-colour support. This add-on supports RFID detection for automatic filament detection, tangle prevention, and filament auto-fill. These are nice additions to the Centauri Carbon, making the printer much more versatile.
With RFID detection, the Elegoo Canvas system automatically recognises RFID-tagged filaments, activating recommended print settings for each filament. With filament auto-refill, the printer will switch spools when identical spools are used in multiple ports. This enables more continuous printing. Tangle prevention can detect filament tangles, preventing print failures and material waste. Note that the standard Centauri Carbon cannot detect this failure type.
Elegoo’s Canvas upgrade for the Centauri Carbon is available from Elegoo’s webstore for £38. Preorders are available now, and dates for pre-order shipping are listed on Elegoo’s website. Note that the UK website lists a shipping date in September. This suggests that this upgrade is in high demand.
