Alien Isolation 2 will be playable at Gamescom 2026
Gamers will be able to play Alien Isolation 2’s prologue at Gamescom 2026
Creative Assembly have confirmed that Alien Isolation 2 will be playable at Gamescom 2026, with attendees being able to play the game’s prologue at the event. The play event will take place between August 26th and 30th.
Creative Assembly confirmed that it started making a new Alien game in 2024. Since then, we have heard nothing about the new game. Creative Assembly promised a “new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece”. So don’t expect Aliens: Total War. This is a new survival horror experience, just like the original.
Sadly, not much is known about Alien Isolation 2 yet, though that will change next week. We expect to see a trailer and gameplay for the game at Gamescom 2026. Creative Assembly has already confirmed that Alien Isolation 2 will not use the same engine as the first game. Alien Isolation 2 will be based on Unreal Engine 5. This change makes sense, as Creative Assembly hasn’t used its Cathode Engine since 2014, and modernising it would require major rework. With this in mind, it makes sense to use Unreal Engine 5.

Using Unreal Engine 5, Creative Assembly’s Alien Isolation will be able to make use of UE5’s advanced lighting features. Lumen lighting is a great fit for survival horror games. After all, good lighting is what creates most of the atmosphere in horror games. That said, there is no shortage of Unreal Engine 5 games that have performance issues. Hopefully, Creative Assembly can utilise the engine effectively to suit their needs. If Creative Assembly can avoid issues like shader compilation stutter and traversal stutter, gamers should have a smooth experience.
