Valve leaks Steam Frame unboxing and setup videos – Launch imminent?

New Valve Steam Frame headset videos leak ahead of the VR headset’s launch

Thanks to a new update to Valve’s ARM Steam client, new videos for Valve’s Steam Frame VR headset were briefly made available. Valve quickly removed them, but hardware enthusiasts downloaded and shared them online. Now, eight videos for Valve’s Steam Frame are available online, detailing what’s included with the devices, their features, the setup process, and the accessories.

Valve’s Steam Frame VR headset is a standalone headset like Oculus/Meta’s Quest series. You can play games on the device, and you can pair the headset with a PC using a dedicated Wi-Fi dongle to stream more demanding games from a dedicated gaming PC. Unlike Meta’s headsets, Valve’s new VR headset also supports expandable storage through MicroSD cards. All in all, Valve’s VR headset sounds much more user-friendly than Meta’s products.

Leaked videos also detail Valve’s Ergonomic Accessories Kit, which includes extra straps, seals, and other parts to improve the headset’s fit and weight distribution. Other videos show the headset’s wireless dongle, which can connect directly to nearby gaming PCs.

Valve Steam Frame Specifications

Valve’s new VR headset features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 16GB of LPDDR5X memory. The Frame has a more powerful SOC than Meta’s Quest 3 headset. Furthermore, it has double the RAM of Meta’s Quest 3 headsets.

Valve’s new Frame headset has two LCD screens. The headset has a per-eye resolution of 2160×2160 and supports a refresh rate between 72 Hz and 144 Hz. Valve’s Frame headset also uses custom pancake lenses. The headset also supports eyeglasses up to 140mm wide.

Earlier this year, Valve stated that its Steam Frame VR headset would launch this summer. This means the headset will be released soon.
