Disney+ issues new UK streaming price hikes
Disney’s latest price hike isn’t inflation; it’s more greed
Disney has officially rolled out its latest round of price increases for UK customers, with both its “Standard” and “Premium” tiers up by £1 per month. Standard tier subscribers, who get 1080p ad-free streaming across two devices, have seen their charges increase by £2 per month. This gives us the following Disney+ subscription prices in the UK.
- Disney+ Standard with Ads – Was £5.99 PM – Now £6.99 PM (16.6% increase)
- Disney+ Standard – Was £9.99 PM – Now £11.99 PM (22.1% increase)
- Disney+ Standard – Was £99.90 Yearly – Now £119.90 Yearly (20% increase)
- Disney+ Premium – Was £14.99 PM – Now £15.99 PM (6.7% increase)
- Disney+ Premium – Was £149.90 Yearly – Now £159.99 Yearly (6.7% increase)
With price increases ranging from 6.7% to 22.1%, Disney’s price hikes are significantly higher than inflation. These new prices already apply to new Disney+ subscribers and will soon affect existing subscribers. Monthly subscribers will see bill increases on/after November 18th. Annual subscribers will see price increases on their bills on/after December 2nd.

As video streaming becomes more expensive and fragmented, it is easy to see why media piracy is on the rise. These price increases far outpace inflation, making them hard to justify. Disney+ launched in the UK at £5.99 per month. That included 4K streaming and no ads. Today, that package is called Disney+ Premium, and it costs £15.99 per month. Today, £6.99 gets you “Standard” 1080p streaming, with ads, on fewer devices.
