Intel Core Ultra 9 4995HX and 4970H mobile CPUs leak

Intel Nova Lake will replace both Arrow Lake and Panther Lake within the mobile CPU market

CPU core and GPU specifications for two of Intel’s upcoming Ultra 9 series Nova Lake mobile CPUs have leaked, highlighting big differences between Intel’s H and HX product lines. The Intel Ultra 9 4995HX reportedly features 28 total CPU cores and two Xe3 GPU cores. The Ultra 9 4970H features 16 total CPU cores and a much larger 12-core Xe3P GPU.

Intel’s new Nova Lake HX series CPUs will succeed Intel’s Arrow Lake-based Core Ultra 200HX series, while the Nova Lake H series will replace Intel’s Panther Lake-based Core Ultra 300H series. With Nova Lake, Intel will deliver improved CPU performance with new P-core and E-core architectures. Both models will also feature Intel’s new Xe3P GPU architecture. Note that Intel’s new HX series CPUs will also feature higher core counts than their predecessors thanks to Intel’s new LP-E cores.

Nova Lake HX will be more impressive than Nova Lake H

With the addition of LP-E cores, Intel’s Nova Lake HX series CPUs will have more cores than their predecessors. Additionally, these CPUs will benefit from two architectural leaps over today’s Arrow Lake 200HX series CPUs. With these two changes, Intel should be able to deliver a significant performance leap with its new Core Ultra 4000HX series CPUs. That said, the iGPU portion of this chip will remain a weak point, making discrete graphics a valuable add-on.

Nova Lake H is all about architectural enhancements

With up to 16 CPU cores and twelve GPU cores, Intel’s Nova Lake H CPUs will deliver more performance than their Panther Lake predecessors through architectural enhancements alone. If Intel can boost clock speeds, deliver more performance per clock cycle, or reduce power draw, Nova Lake will be a solid upgrade over Panther Lake. With up to a 12-core GPU, Nova Lake H should be a strong option for gamers. However, it remains to be seen how fast Xe3P will be compared to Intel’s existing Xe3 GPUs.

Nova Lake H will be a more straight-up upgrade from Panther Lake H. There are no additional CPU or GPU cores to play with, just new architectures and the performance gains they provide.
