GeForce RTX 5080 prices rise by 50% as the RTX 5090 becomes unobtanium
Baseline RTX 5080 prices pass £1,400 in the UK as Nvidia’s RTX 5090 becomes unobtanium
In recent weeks, Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 graphics cards have shot up in price in the UK, with baseline models now costing over £1,400. This follows recent price increases for Nvidia’s RTX 5090, driven by AI demand and limited supply. Today, Overclockers UK’s cheapest RTX 5090 GPU costs £6,989.99.
Compared with this time last year, RTX 5080 prices have risen by 50%. Last October, PNY’s RTX 5080 Triple Fan model cost £959.99. Today, the same GPU costs £1439.99. In July, the same GPU cost £1,169.99. For context, these historical prices come from PCPartPickerUK.
While RTX 5080 prices have been rising throughout 2026, they’ve risen by around £200 in the UK in recent weeks. While baseline GPU models remain below Nvidia’s RTX 5090 MSRP of £1799.99, higher-end models have already crossed that threshold.
Right now, the reason behind these price increases is unknown. Is limited supply forcing prices up? Are RTX 5080 GPUs now being bought in bulk for Chinese AI servers? We don’t know. All we know is that prices are up, and that stings.
With AI datacenter demand driving PC component prices skyward, today’s products have become increasingly poor value. Baseline RTX 5080 GPUs are now 50% more expensive than they were a year ago. There’s no sugarcoating that. This sucks.
