Grand Theft Auto VI has a 200+ GB download size on PS5
Grand Theft Auto VI requires more than 200GB of storage on PlayStation 5
Grand Theft Auto VI will reportedly have a 200+ GB install size on PS5, with PlayStation Game Size reporting a 210 GB download size. This source tracks changes to Sony’s PlayStation database, so this download size number is likely accurate.
If true, GTA 6 will be one of the largest games on PlayStation 5, with the download alone accounting for almost one-third of the default storage of 825GB (667GB available to users) console models. It is currently unknown how large Grand Theft Auto VI will be when installed on PlayStation 5 consoles. Game updates could change GTA VI’s install size. Additionally, the 210 GB download could include compressed assets that are decompressed upon installation.
With such a large download size, it is easy to see why Grand Theft Auto VI isn’t available on disc. This game is too large for even two Blu-ray discs. This may explain why Rockstar made GTA VI’s physical version a “download code in a box” release. That said, curbing long-term used-game sales was likely their primary reason.

At over 200GB, Grand Theft Auto VI players will likely need to uninstall several games to fit it on their consoles. Perhaps this will cause a spike in NVMe SSD sales, with PS5 users scrambling to add more storage to their systems.
GTA 6 is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on November 19th. The game will be available to pre-load from November 12th.
