FSP launches ZENFAN cooling fans with built-in screens

FSP has added screens to its newest fans to enable real-time speed and temperature monitoring

FSP has just unveiled its new “ZENFAN” 120mm PC case fans, which feature a “smart temperature display with intelligent fan speed control” attached to a standard 120mm cooling fan. This allows users to see real-time performance data at a glance, without the need for software.

This unique screen attachment sits at the edge of this 120mm fan’s housing. This gives the fan 120mm x 140mm x 25mm sizing, which may not be supported by all PC cases.

Using an integrated temperature sensor at the rear of the fan, users can see the temperature of the air exiting their PC case. Since all data is sourced directly from the fan itself, no external monitoring or control software is required for this screen to function. These new “ZENFAN” fans will be available with and without RGB lighting. Note that these fans will also be available in black and white.

FPS’s new fans are reportedly fairly quiet. They can operate between 800 and 1600 RPM. FSP lists this fan’s maximum noise levels as 26 dBA (+/- 10%). These PWM fans use an HDB (Hydraulic Dynamic Bearing) bearing and can deliver up to 57.6 CFM of airflow.

Currently, the pricing of these new screen-clad fans is unknown. However, we can expect these fans to cost a lot more than FSP’s standard 120mm fans. While these fans make clever use of an LCD screen, this screen is only useful for users of windowed PC cases. Furthermore, this fan is only well-placed when used as a 120mm exhaust fan. If placed anywhere else, users will have difficulty seeing this fan’s built-in screen.
