Noctua LGA1851 offset mounts for its NH-D15 G2 cooler
Noctua drops Intel Arrow Lake thermals with its LGA1851 offset mounts
Noctua has unveiled new LGA1851 offset mounts for its high-end NH-D15 G2 CPU cooler, enabling optimised cooling performance. Using these offset mounts, NH-D15 G2 coolers can drop the thermals of Intel’s 20-core and 24-core Arrow Lake CPUs by up to three degrees.
Presenting the new NM-IMB8 LGA1851 offset mounting bars for the award-winning NH-D15 G2: Gain up to 3°C with HBC coolers and up to 1°C with the standard version on the Intel Core® Ultra 9 285K or Core Ultra 7 265K! https://t.co/Ml1ilWyTHQ pic.twitter.com/GrkKw4cThI

Noctua’s new offset mount moves their CPU cooler 3.7mm north and 2mm east, applying more pressure to the hotspot of Intel’s latest CPUs. This delivers optimal cooling performance of Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K and Ultra 7 265K.
With this new mount, Intel Arrow Lake users can fine-tune the cooling performance of their CPUs.
The NM-IMB8 are offset LGA1851 mounting bars for the NH-D15 G2. By offsetting the heatsink 3.7mm towards the north and 2mm towards the east side of the socket, more pressure is applied right above the hotspot of Intel 24- or 20-core LGA1851 CPUs, such as the Core Ultra 9 285K or Core Ultra 7 265K. This improved contact exactly at the processor’s hotspot can reduce CPU temperatures by up to 3°C with HBC coolers and up to 1°C with the standard version (medium base convexity) of the NH-D15 G2.

All versions of Intel’s NH-D15 G2 benefit from this new offset mount. However, Noctua’s “standard” and “HBC” versions benefit most. With Noctua’s offset mounts, both versions now perform similarly. However, Noctua still recommends its standard/MBC cooler variant for optimal LGA1851 CPU performance. Unfortunately, for this version of the NH-D15 G2, the benefits are minimal.
Since the standard version typically performs around 2°C better than the HBC version when both are used without offset, the first remains the recommended choice for LGA1851 as it achieves the best temperatures overall, both with and without offset mounting bars. Replacing the standard mounting bars and re-using the original spacers and screws, the NM-IMB8 are a simple yet highly efficient measure for fine-tuning the thermal performance of NH-D15 G2 CPU coolers on high core count LGA1851 processors.
