Noctua releases its all-black Chromax series of CPU coolers with NH-D15 and NH-U12S variants

Noctua has officially released it Chromax series of CPU cooler, offering PC builders all-black versions of the company’s most popular coolers, moving away from the company’s iconic brown/beige colour scheme.

Starting today, all-black Chromax versions of Noctua’s NH-D15 and NH-U12S will be available at retailers, with Noctua promising performance levels that are within one degree of the company’s standard, non-Chromax cooler variants. This means that practically all users should expect no noticeable difference between Noctua’s all-black coolers and their bare metal counterparts.

In the future, an all-black version of Noctua’s NH-L9i CPU cooler will become available under Noctua’s Chromax brand. Below is a comment from Noctua’s CEO, Roland Mossig;

    Our customers have been asking us for all-black coolers for a long time, but we’re soldering the fins to the heatpipes in order to guarantee optimal performance over many years of usage and this production process is difficult to combine with coatings,

It took a lot of time and engineering work to find an appropriate coating material and production process that gave us satisfactory thermal performance and consistent visual appearance. Now, we’re proud with the end result and confident that the new chromax.black coolers will meet the high standards Noctua users have come to expect.

All of Noctua’s Chromax series coolers will be identical to their non-Chromax counterparts in terms of mounting and usability. All that changes with Chromax is the colour. Chromax series coolers feature black coated heatsinks, black fans with black anti-vibration-pads, black fan clips or fan screws and black mounting hardware.

For a limited time, Orange and Black Linus Tech Tips versions of both the NH-D15 chromax.black and NH-U12S chromax.black sold through Noctua’s official Amazon and eBay stores. Only 5,000 coolers with this colour scheme will be produced.

   Teaming up with popular youtuber Linus Sebastian from Linus Tech Tips, the first 5000 pieces of NH-D15 chromax.black and NH-U12S chromax.black sold through Noctua’s official Amazon and eBay stores will be an exclusive Linus Tech Tips limited edition that includes extra orange anti-vibration pads and custom Linus Tech Tips fan stickers.

The Linus Tech Tips limited editions have a strictly limited volume and will only be available via Noctua’s official Amazon and eBay stores while stock lasts. The non-limited versions of the NH-D15 chromax.black and NH-U12S chromax.black will start selling via Amazon as soon as the Linus Tech Tips limited editions are sold out and via other sales partners at the end of October.

In the UK, Noctua’s Chromax Black NH-D15 is available on Amazon for £89.99 and Noctua’s Chromax Black NH-U12S is available for £64.99.
