Three fans in one - Thermaltake's SWAFAN series is well suited to all applications

Thermaltake’s latest fan is easy to clean and ready for practically all potential use cases

Thermaltake has just launched their SWAFAN series of fans, which features three potential fan blade options that allow users to optimise their fans for their specific use case. At launch, the Thermaltake SWAFAN is available in G12 (120mm) and G14 (140mm) forms, with each fan shipping with a high static pressure blade, a high air flow blade, and a reverse high air flow blade.

The idea behind Thermaltake’s static pressure fan blade design is simple. This blade design is intended for use with heatsinks and liquid cooling radiators. This blade is designed to force air through fin stacks, maximising the cooling potential of your PC’s heatsinks. In contrast, Thermaltake’s high airflow fan blades are designed to move as much air as possible, but not to push air through heatsinks. This fan blade design is ideal for intaking air and exhausting air outside of your PC, and Thermaltake has given users this blade design in standard and reversed forms, maximising the aesthetic appeal of their SWAFAN models.

If you are wondering why Thermaltake has created reverse blade fans, the image below should show you. With reverse bladed fans, Thermaltake can improve the aesthetics of PCs by hiding a fan’s support structure where it is least visible. This is a purely aesthetic option, and while other manufacturers have created dedicated reverse blade fans, Thermaltake has given their users the ability to switch out their fan blades to suit their specific needs.

One of the big perks of Thermaltake’s removable fan blade design is that it allows their fans to be easily cleaned. Just remove your fan blade component and clean it however you wish. This is a lot easier than cleaning blades that are attached to a main fan assembly. Cleaning your PC’s fans has never been easier.

Another useful feature of these new fans from Thermaltake is their support for daisy-chained fan connections, which allows users to minimise cable clutter and minimise the number of PWM connectors that are needed to power your PC’s fans. Thermaltake has included a 900mm long cable with their fans to allow users to easily manage their cables, even if these fans are far away from your motherboard. Modders can easily shorten this extension cable to the cable length they require.

With an asking price of £26.99 for the SWAFAN’s G12 120mm model and price tag of £29.99 for their G14 140mm model, these new fans from Thermaltake are on the expensive side. That said, these fans are not much more expensive than other premium fan models, and for this price Thermaltake are giving users multiple fan blade options and fan blades that are very easy to clean. If you are on a budget, much cheaper fans are available, but if you are in the market for fans that can be optimised to suit your specific use case, then Thermaltake’s SWAFAN series is worth looking into.
