5.2 GHz all-core CPU clock speed teased for Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Leaker teases 400 MHz all-core clock speed boost for AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D

The leaker @9550pro has revealed that AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 7 9800X3D has an all-core clock speed of 5.2 GHz in Cinebench R24. According to the leaker, this clock speed is 400MHz higher than AMD’s Ryzen 7 7800X3D when running the same workload. This confirms that AMD’s upcoming Zen 5 X3D CPUs will benefit from higher clock speeds and architectural improvements over their predecessors.

Previous leaks have showcased 18.7% and 35% faster single-threaded and multi-threaded performance boosts when comparing AMD’s 7800X3D and 9800X3D in Cinebench R23, respectively. This supports the hypothesis that AMD’s Zen 5 X3D CPUs feature higher core clock speeds than its predecessor, as well as increased IPC.

If true, AMD’s new X3D CPUs will deliver larger generational improvements than their standard Zen 5 CPUs. After all, AMD’s standard Zen 5 CPUs do not feature higher clock speeds than their predecessors.

AMD’s Zen 5 X3D CPUs will benefit from higher core clock speeds than their Zen 4 counterparts in games. Beyond that, these CPUs may also benefit from other improvements to the company’s X3D technology. AMD has not revealed its next-generation X3D CPUs, and it may have refined or otherwise improved its X3D technology for Zen 5.
