6GHz Ryzen 9 9950X CPU benchmark result revealed

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X delivers incredible Geekbench 6 results with a 6GHz overclock

AMD has delayed the launch of their Ryzen 9000 series CPUs, citing potential quality concerns with some early processors. This calls into question the early benchmark results for pre-release Ryzen 9000 series CPUs. Simply put, it is unknown if these older results from these sub-standard AMD Ryzen 9000 CPU models? Now, an impressive benchmark result for AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X has emerged, revealing what appears to be a 6GHz overclock AMD’s new flagship AM5 CPU.

With a listed clock speed of 5953MHz, the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X benchmark result below showcases an impressive single-threaded score of 3706 in Geekbench 6. This result came to our attention thanks to @9550pro on Twitter/X. This result is much higher than prior Geekbench results for AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X. For context, a stock Ryzen 9 7950X will achieve a single-threaded score of under 3,000 points in this benchmark.

Currently, it is unknown how the CPU in this benchmark was cooled, or what exact overclocking settings are in place. This this apparent 6GHz Ryzen 9 9950X overclock achieved using standard CPU cooling solutions? Perhaps extreme cooling methods like dry ice or liquid nitrogen cooling? Will normal PC users be able to replicate these results?

As of yesterday, AMD’s 6-Core Ryzen 5 9600X and 8-core Ryzen 7 9700X are due to release on August 8th. One week later, on August 15th, AMD’s 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X and 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X will become available.
