AM4 Lives! AMD launches its Ryzen 5 5500X3D CPU in China
AM4 refuses to die – AMD has launched its Ryzen 5 5500X3D gaming CPU in China
AMD has released a new X3D CPU in China, and it isn’t for the AM5 socket. AM4 lives, and the Ryzen 5 5500X3D has arrived in China. Six Zen 3 CPU cores with a lot of L3 cache.
At 1,199 RMB, this CPU is worth around $175 US, making it a powerful budget-oriented gaming CPU. Given its support for older AM4 motherboards and DDR4 memory, this CPU is an incredibly attractive option for upgraders and gamers who want a budget-friendly gaming PC. After all, DDR4 is much more affordable than DDR5, especially if you buy your memory used.
Even now, AMD’s website states that the new X3D series CPU will be available exclusively in the LATAM (Latin American) market. With Base/Boost clock speeds of 3.0 GHz and 4.0 GHz, it is notably slower than AMD’s Ryzen 5 5600X3D. This CPU features six Zen 3 CPU cores and twelve threads.

Now that the AMD Ryzen 5 5500X3D is available in China, this CPU can no longer be called LATAM only product. It is currently unknown if AMD plans to release this new CPU in Western markets. Honestly, I think a wider launch of this CPU would be a good move, as even now, this CPU is a solid budget option.
While it is strange for AMD to launch a Zen 3 product in new regions (since Zen 5 is AMD’s current-gen architecture), it is a solid business move in today’s PC market. With AI datacenter builders hoarding the world’s DDR5 memory, the consumer PC industry needs to adapt. That means supporting older, more affordable DDR4 platforms. Let’s hope that we can see this CPU become available in the US and Europe soon.
