AMD's Ryzen 5 5600X3D has been revealed as a Micro Center exclusive

AMD has officially revealed their Ryzen 5 5600X3D, and it won’t bring AMD’s V-Cache technology to the masses

AMD has officially revealed their new Ryzen 5 5600X3D processor, a new AM4-compatible processor that offers gamers six cores, twelve threads, and 96MB of L3 Cache. With a price tag of $219, this is AMD’s most affordable V-Cache enhanced processor to date, making this processor a potential budget gaming champion.

Unfortunately, AMD’s Ryzen 5 5600X3D appears to be a limited edition processor, with the CPU being revealed as a Micro Center exclusive processor. We have confirmed that Micro Center have all supply of AMD’s Ryzen 5 5600X3D, which means that the processor will not be available outside of the US.

Below is what Micro Center had to say about their partnership with AMD.

Micro Center, a premier destination for computer hardware and electronics, is thrilled to announce the exclusive launch of the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D processor. This limited-edition processor offers outstanding price-to-performance value, allowing gamers to enhance their gaming experiences without compromising their budget. Designed with an impressive base clock speed of 3.3 GHz and a boosted speed of up to 4.4 GHz, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D processor delivers amazing speed and responsiveness, ensuring seamless gameplay even in the most demanding scenarios. With its 6 cores and 12 threads, this processor effortlessly handles multitasking requirements, empowering gamers with the processing power they need to dominate their virtual worlds. The extensive 96MB L3 Cache enhances data transfer speeds, optimizing overall performance. Thanks to its CPU Socket AM4 compatibility, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D processor seamlessly integrates into a wide range of systems.

AMD’s Ryzen 5 5600X3D will not be available outside of the US

When we heard about AMD’s Ryzen 5 5600X3D we immediately asked AMD for a comment, and they responded quickly. Sadly, all available supply of AMD’s Ryzen 5 5600X3D has been consumed by Micro Center, which means that the processor will not be releasing outside of the US or at any other US retailer.

With this CPU being a limited edition model, we do not expect Micro Center’s supply of Ryzen 5 5600X3D CPUs and systems to last for very long.

AMD has a limited supply of Ryzen 5 5600X3D processors and chose to partner with Microcenter in celebration of their Indianapolis store opening.  All available supply has been consumed by this partnership.

This is disappointing

With inflation being high and wages getting squeezed harder than ever, we would have like to have seen AMD release their Ryzen 5 5600X3D more broadly, giving AM4 upgraders a new high value gaming option while injecting some more competition into the lower-end of the PC market. Sadly, with availability being so limited, AMD’s Ryzen 5 5600X3D will not have the impact on the market that it could have, which we feel is a little disappointing.
