AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU pricing leaks

AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D will cost more than its predecessor – leaker claims

According to the leaker Hoang Anh Phu, AMD will launch their new Ryzen 7 9800X3D gaming CPU with higher pricing than its predecessor. Specifically, AMD’s new 8-core gaming flagship will reportedly cost $30 more than its predecessor. That will give the CPU a US MSRP of $479.

Honestly, this sounds like a good price for AMD’s new Zen 5 X3D CPU. On Newegg, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D currently costs $476.99. That gives the new 9800X3D pricing that is almost identical to the real-world pricing of its predecessor. That means that AMD’s new X3D chip should give gamers more value for money.

Based on leaked marketing information for the 9800X3D, AMD’s new 8-core X3D CPU will deliver an 8% gaming boost over its predecessor. In productivity workloads, a larger performance boost of 15% is expected.

AMD’s 8% gaming performance gain stat is expected to be an average performance boost across various gaming workloads. As such, we can expect some games to receive much larger and much smaller performance boosts. Regardless, AMD has stated that gamers should expect around 8% performance gains over the 7800X3D. Much larger gains can be expected if users are moving from older AMD CPUs, especially non-X3D CPUs.
