AMD’s Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 X3D reportedly supports full overclocking

It looks like overclocking is coming to AMD’s Zen 5 X3D CPUs, making AMD’s popular gaming chips even more appealing

Overclocking appears to be coming to AMD’s next-generation Ryzen X3D CPUs. Now two sources have independently reported this claim, signalling that AMD’s 3rd generation X3D CPUs have this sought after feature.

Both WCCFtech and Moore’s Law is Dead have claimed that overclocking is coming to AMD’s Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs. Additionally, Moore’s Law is Dead claims that AMD’s next-gen X3D chips will have lesser clock speed limitations than their Ryzen 5000/7000 counterparts. That means that AMD’s new X3D chips should have similar clock speeds to their non-X3D counterparts. That change will help AMD deliver larger performance boosts with their 3rd gen X3D technology.

AMD appears to have solved some of the technical issues that previously prevented the implementation of full overclocking support on Ryzen X3D CPUs. Even so, it has been claimed that there may be safeguards to protect new X3D chips when manually overclocking. Even so, manual overclocking with limits is better than having no manual overclocking support.

Overclocking support would be a great addition to AMD’s X3D chips, as would smaller clock speed regressions when compared to non-X3D CPUs. Currently, it is unknown what AMD will bring to the table with their Zen 5 X3D CPUs. That said, AMD has set expectations high.
