ASUS reveals its first AMD Ryzen/AM5 BTF motherboard, the TUF Gaming B850-BTF WIFI

ASUS’ BTF “Back-Connect” motherboard technology arrives on AM5 – Ryzen 9000 BTF builds incoming!

“Back-Connect” motherboards have proven to be a big hit for ASUS, and at CES 2025, the company has officially expanded their BTF “Back-Connect” range into the AMD Ryzen/AM5 domain. The ASUS TUF Gaming B850-BTF WIFI is the company’s first AMD back-connect motherboard, and it will be available at retailers soon.

We’ve already looked at the non-BTF version of this new motherboard, the TUF Gaming B850 WIFI. However, we will note that this new BTF design has more of its surface area covered in a shroud. Regardless, both motherboards feature the same specifications, featuring four DIMM slots, a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot, and a full PCIe 5 x16 slot. This motherboard is ready for AMD’s newest AM5 CPUs, even AMD’s new Ryzen 9000 X3D chips.

At CES, ASUS showcased an all-AMD BTF PC build that included their new AMD BTF motherboard. Note that this system features an AMD BTF graphics card. To our knowledge, ASUS hasn’t officially released any Radeon BTF graphics cards. The GPU in this build is an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX TUF Gaming BTF.

Unlike competing “Back-connect” motherboards, ASUS’ BTF ecosystem supports cable-free graphics cards that take power from a specialised motherboard connector. ASUS’ TUF Gaming BTF motherboard supports these kinds of graphics cards.

We expect these new AM5 BTF motherboards to become available at retailers very soon.
