ASUS to increase DDR4 motherboard production in response to memory price hikes
ASUS reportedly adjusts 2026 production plans to boost DDR4 motherboard production
ASUS has reportedly adjusted its 2026 manufacturing plans to increase investment in DDR4 motherboards. This will see ASUS produce more AMD AM4 motherboards and Intel LGA-1700 motherboards in Q1 2026, thanks to growing demand for legacy CPU platforms.
Rising DDR5 memory prices have seen many PC builders shift to older CPU platforms. Older DDR4 memory is available at lower prices than DDR5, making DDR4-based PCs much more affordable. This is especially true for PC builders who are willing to purchase used DDR4 memory.
On the AMD side, ASUS is expected to increase its supply of B550 and A520 motherboards. For Intel, ASUS reportedly plans to expand their supply of B760M and H610M-G motherboards. Currently, there appear to be no plans to reduce DDR5 motherboard production.

If this report is accurate, it indicates that ASUS believes DDR5 memory pricing will not improve anytime soon. It is also a sign that DDR4 motherboard production is not due to be phased out in the near future.
