Insane Core Counts! AMD’s Ryzen 7000 Threadripper Pro Flagship Leaks

With 96 cores and 5 GHz clock speeds, AMD’s next-generation Threadripper CPUs are going to be computational monsters

Thanks to @BenchLeaks, we have gotten a look at AMD’s next-generation Threadripper flagship, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX, a 96-core monster CPU that appears to boost to clock speeds as high as 5.14GHz.

With their Ryzen Threadripper PRO processors, AMD will be giving their HEDT CPU lineup its first core count increase since the release of their Zen 2 based Ryzen Threadripper 3000 series of processors, increasing the core count of their new Threadripper flagship to 96 cores and 192 threads. AMD’s last two Threadripper flagships had 64 cores and 128 threads.

AMD’s next-generation Threadripper PRO CPUs will also feature AMD’s new Zen 4 CPU cores, which add new features like AVX-512 support to AMD’s latest processors alongside significant clock speed increased over their Zen 2/Zen 3 predecessors. Add on AMD’s increased core counts, and AMD’s Ryzen 7000 Threadripper Pro processors are going to deliver a huge generational leap in performance for users. 

Below, we have a Geekbench 5 result for an HP Z6 G5 workstation that contains an AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX processor and over 500 GB of DDR5 memory. AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series of CPUs will be AMD’s first HEDT CPUs to utilise DDR5 memory.  

AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000 series processors are expected to launch later this year, offering users a huge boost in both single-threaded and multi-threaded workstation performance. These CPUs will place AMD in a leadership position within the HEDT CPU market, as Intel’s latest HEDT CPUs do not come close to matching AMD’s core counts. Expect a lot of benchmarking records to be broken once AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX CPU releases.
