Intel LGA1954 Nova Lake motherboard spotted – Let’s have a look

A first look at an Intel Nova Lake LGA1954 motherboard

An Intel LGA-1954 motherboard has been spotted in the wild, featuring Intel’s new Q970/B960 chipset and support for the company’s upcoming Nova Lake-S CPUs. This motherboard comes from Decenta, a Chinese motherboard manufacturer. With its green PCB and blue DDR5 DIMM slots, this motherboard is clearly intended for industrial/enterprise PCs, not DIY enthusiasts. We can also see that this motherboard has multiple PCIe slots and a legacy PCI slot.

This new motherboard is available in two forms. It can utilise Intel’s Q970 chipset or its B960 chipset. The Q970 model supports PCIe 5.0 speeds on more PCIe slots and can run a PCIe 4.0 SSD in its second M.2 slot. In contrast, the B960 version supports PCIe 4.0 on its PCIe x4 slots and only supports SATA SSDs on its second M.2 slot.

Thanks to @RubyRapids, who spotted a web listing for this motherboard, we have its full specifications. Note that it lists Intel Nova Lake-S CPUs as supporting 3rd Generation Intel Xe graphics and a 74 TOPS NPU. It also lists support for 256GB of DDR5 memory (4x64GB) at DDR5-6400 speeds.

With its M.2 E-key 2230 slot, this motherboard can optionally support WIFI 7 and Bluetooth 6. Intel is due to release its first Nova Lake CPUs in January. Motherboard makers are already ready for this new CPU launch.
