Intel reportedly plans Nova Lake CPU with 12 Xe3P GPU for desktops

Intel Nova Lake could create gaming-grade desktop PCs without discrete GPUs

According to the leaker Jaykihn, Intel may be planning to create a desktop-oriented Nova Lake CPU with a large 12-core Xe3P GPU. Xe3P is Intel’s next-generation ARC GPU architecture, which replaces Panther Lake’s Xe3 GPU.

This rumoured Nova Lake CPU features sixteen CPU cores and a 12-core Xe3P graphics chip. This CPU appears to feature four P-cores, eight E-cores and four Low-Power E-Cores. If Intel delivers this chip, it will feature Intel’s largest desktop-oriented integrated graphics chip to date. This chip should be able to deliver ample performance for light gaming workloads, especially with Intel’s Xe upscaling and frame generation technologies.

Intel’s top Panther Lake processors feature a 12-core Xe3 graphics chip. It is currently unknown what will change when Intel moves from Xe3 to Xe3P. The fact that this architecture isn’t called Xe4 implies that its architectural changes are relatively minor. That said, it’s probable that the P in Xe3P stands for “Performance”, so we should expect more performance than Intel’s Xe3 graphics solutions.

Moving forward, Intel is expected to ship processors with increasingly large graphics chips. Previously, there were reports of a large “Nova Lake-AX” CPU with a larger Xe3P GPU, though this product has reportedly been cancelled. However, a next-generation version, codenamed “Razor Lake-AX“, is reportedly in development.

Intel is also reportedly planning to release a product called “Serpent Lake” in 2028/2029, featuring an Nvidia graphics chiplet. This paints a future in which Intel will release products with its own GPUs, and alternative products with Nvidia graphics.
