Major disappointment - AMD's budget-friendly Ryzen 5 7500F will be SI-only outside of China

AMD’s cost-effective Ryzen 5 7500F will only be available inside pre-built systems outside of China

Earlier this week, AMD launched their Ryzen 5 7500F processor globally, a cost-effective Ryzen 7000 series processor that is a compelling offering for anyone who plans to utilise a discrete graphics card.

With six cores and twelve threads, and base/boost clock speeds of 3.7 GHz and 5.0 GHz, AMD’s Ryzen 5 7500F is effectively a Ryzen 5 7600 with a 100 MHz clock speed drop. That said, the Ryzen 5 7500F does have another downgrade, as it lacks integrated graphics. Aside from these two changes, the Ryzen 5 7500F and Ryzen 5 7600 appear to be identical, shipping with the same 65W default TDP, overclocking support, and the same 32MB of L3 cache.

Unfortunately, AMD has confirmed that their Ryzen 5 7500F will not be releasing as a “processor in box” product in Europe, stating that the processor will only be available as an option for “select system builders”. This means that PC builders will likely be unable to purchase this processor as a standalone product, limiting the impact that this budget-friendly processor can have on the PC market.

Below is a comment that AMD Germany had made to HardwareLuxx.

This processor model will be available starting July 23, 2023 at 9PM ET. It will be available in greater china as a processor-in-box, and in the rest of world as an option for select system builders.

Major disappointment - AMD's budget-friendly Ryzen 5 7500F will be SI-only outside of China

To say the least, AMD’s announcement that their Ryzen 5 7500F will only be available to “select system builders” outside of China is a profound disappointment. AMD’s Ryzen 5 7500F had the potential to be the go-to processor for budget-oriented gaming PCs, but this the processor’s launch being so limited, we can only expect this processor to increase the popularity of AMD’s AM5 CPU socket amongst system builders like PCSpecialist and their competitors.
