Two MSI AMD X870 motherboards leak revealing new “EZ-DIY” features

Two MSI X870 motherboards leak ahead of AMD’s Computex 2024 keynote

AMD are getting ready for their Computex 2024 keynote, and leakers have already started to reveal some of their talking points. Thanks to @momomo_us on Twitter/X, we have gotten a glimpse of two AMD X870 motherboards from MSI.

These two motherboard designs make it clear that AMD will be talking about next-generation CPUs during their keynote. It also seems likely that AMD will be talking about their upcoming X870 motherboard chipset. This new generation of motherboards appears to utilise AMD’s AM5 motherboard socket, with MSI adding some of their “ZY-DIY” features into the mix.

One nice additions to these MSI motherboards is an “EZ PCIe release” button, which is clearly visible on the X870 Tomahawk. The motherboard also features a “screwless M.2 Shield Frozr” mechanism, and an “EZ Antenna” connection for WIFI antennas. These features make the PC building and upgrading process easier.

Sadly, this leak doesn’t reveal anything specific about AMD’s next-generation processors. While it does confirm that these new processors will use socket AM5, it is unclear what platform upgrades X870 will offer over today’s X670.
