50% memory upgrade! – Nvidia unveils new RTX 5070 12GB laptop GPU

Nvidia has released a new 12GB version of its RTX 5070 mobile graphics card

Nvidia has officially launched its 12GB RTX 5070 mobile GPU, upgrading its existing model with new 24Gb GDDR7 memory modules. This gives the new GPU 4GB more GDDR7 memory than its older 8GB counterpart.

Nvidia’s new RTX 5070 12GB will exist alongside Nvidia’s older 8GB model. This gives Nvidia’s partners more options when building new RTX-powered gaming laptops. With extra memory, this new GPU model will be better suited to running more demanding PC games, many of which are memory-hungry.

GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU With 12GB

Demand for GeForce RTX GPUs remains strong, and memory supply is constrained. In order to maximize memory availability, we are releasing the GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU 12GB configuration with 24Gb G7 memory. This gives our partners access to an additional pool of memory to complement the 16Gb G7 supply that currently ships with most GeForce GPUs. The 12GB configuration will exist alongside the current 8GB configuration, and allows our partners to bring a broader range of GeForce RTX 5070 laptops to consumers.

– Nvidia

Nvidia’s new RTX 5070 laptop model features the same basic specifications as the GPU’s existing model. The only change is its use of 24Gb (3GB) GDDR7 memory modules instead of 16Gb (2GB) modules. Nvidia’s RTX 5070 laptop GPU is a graphics card with 4608 CUDA cores, a 128-bit memory bus, and a TDP range of 50-100W.

If you are buying an RTX 5070-powered laptop, the new 12GB model is worth the investment. 8GB GPUs can struggle with some modern games, and having extra memory can help avoid many strange performance issues. If you are using your laptop for productivity, having extra memory will also be handy for video editing, design work, and other productivity applications.
