AMD hints at next-gen Radeon with new GPU roadmap
AMD confirms next-generation features for upcoming Radeon gaming GPUs
At their 2025 Financial Analysts Day, AMD unveiled new CPU and GPU roadmaps for consumers. Unfortunately, AMD did not delve deeply into its next-generation architectures. After all, AMD were talking to financial analysts, not tech enthusiasts. Finance people want to know if AMD will make money; they don’t want to know specific details about their planned hardware. Regardless, AMD have given us an idea of what to expect from its future Radeon products with its new GPU roadmap.
Honestly, AMD’s new roadmaps only confirm what we already expected. AMD is focusing heavily on AI and ray tracing. AMD confirmed this with Sony last month at their latest “Project Amethyst” event. AMD’s next-generation GPU architecture will feature “Next-Gen AI and Raytracing”.
No RDNA 5?
AMD has not unveiled the name of its next-generation GPU architecture. Previously, the names UDNA and RDNA 5 have been talked about, but now it seems clear that even AMD doesn’t know what to call its next-generation Radeon architecture.
Alongside Sony, AMD has already unveiled new GPU features like Neural Arrays, Radiance Cores, and Universal Compression. All of these features will define the next-generation gaming feature set for Sony’s next PlayStation. We expect AMD to unveil more details about its next-generation GPU plans when products are closer to launch. For now, it’s clear that AMD doesn’t want to take the spotlight away from RDNA 4. They didn’t even list a release date for its “next-gen” products.
(AMD Gaming GPU Roadmap – Financial Analyst Day)
AMD’s 2025 Financial Analysts Day was focused on AI. Gaming wasn’t a primary focus of this event. AMD has partnerships with Microsoft, Valve, and Sony, which secure its position within the gaming market for years to come. AI is AMD’s biggest growth driver, so it makes sense for it to take centre stage. Sadly, that means that we didn’t get to hear much about AMD’s plans for the gaming market. We can expect to hear more when AMD’s new products are closer to launch.
