G-Sync is now available on some of LG’s 2019 OLED TVs
Since Nvidia’s initial announcement, the company has worked to enable G-Sync Compatability to LG’s B9 series of 4K OLED TVs, bringing support to nine OLED screen models in total. Each of these TVs will require LG’s latest firmware updated to enable G-Sync support, which at the time of writing is available in the US, Canada and Mexico. Firmware availability in other regions will begin soon.
To activate G-Sync support in LG’s supported OLED TVs, LG’s screens need to be using their latest firmware and Nvidia’s latest Geforce drivers. Other TVs with VVR support may work with Nvidia’s latest Geforce drivers, though they may not meet Nvidia’s standards for G-Sync compatibility.
LG’s 2019 series of OLED TV use HDMI 2.0 and therefore cannot support 4K at 120Hz. Nvidia’s RTX 20/GTX 16 series also lacks support for HDMI 2.1, limiting maximum screen refresh rates to 60Hz at 4K. 120Hz refresh rates are supported when using a display output of 1440p or 1080p on LG’s OLED screens.
